Image Consultation and DISC Personality Types

In Image Consulting we use many coaching methods: Myers-Briggs, Time-To-Think, Archetypes and many more. One of them is the DISG model. We like to use it in our image consultancy as it is a very visual concept based on colours and how they relate to image, styling and personality types.

It distinguishes 4 personality types, quite simply according to the colour principle: red, yellow, green, blue. Each DISG type has its own characteristic style, which is clearly different from the others. It helps you to better understand and optimise your own personality and behaviour in business. Everyone has a unique mix of these personality types, so the stylist at the Image Consultation will give you personal recommendations and tips on how to dress and make an impact.

Personality type: RED – DOMINANT

The dominant DISG personality type is characterised by assertiveness, determination and self-confidence. They prefer quick decisions, are impatient and may find others too emotional. A style of dress that suits this personality type should reflect authority, power and determination.

They love the classic style of dress. Business shirts and suits in muted colours such as black, grey or dark blue can be found in the business wardrobe. However, Red personalities find it difficult to combine business casual in a way that still looks very elegant and business-like. Our stylists work with them to create tailor-made outfits that can be immediately integrated into their business lives.

Personality type:  YELLOW- INITIATIV

The Initiative personality type in the DISG personality classification is characterised by enthusiasm, determination and a willingness to take risks. However, they can also be impulsive and spontaneous. A style of clothing that suits this personality type should reflect their creativity and flexibility.

Typical of the Initiative personality type is a combination of stylish clothes that are worn casually. They feel most comfortable in a sporty style: jeans and a T-shirt or casual shirt. Add a stylish jacket and casual shoes. He likes to experiment and is always open to new things. Overall, this personality type’s clothing style should always have an individual touch that reflects his energetic and enthusiastic personality.

Personality type: GREEN – STEADY

The Steady personality type of the DISG personality classification is characterised by balance, friendliness and patience. The focus is on an unexciting appearance that does not attract too much attention and appears friendly.

A suitable style of clothing for this personality type is romantic or adventurous. The clothes should be comfortable, easy to combine, not obtrusive and absolutely functional. He feels most comfortable in the summer in chinos and a polo shirt, with a jeans jacket or a light bomber jacket. Go with comfortable, sporty shoes such as sneakers or moccasins.

Personality type: BLUE – COMPLIANT

The Compliat ‘Blue’ DISG personality type is characterised by precision, accuracy, a penchant for planning and a strong sense of detail. However, they can also be perceived as overly detail-oriented and inflexible.

Conscientious people place a high value on design and brands. Their style of dress is somewhat extravagant or minimalist, but by no means conservative. Attention to detail also plays an important role in their style and is reflected in their careful choice of accessories, such as glasses, shoes and jewellery, which complete the overall look and are always chosen to suit the occasion.
